Blocktide
A free block puzzle game with a daily challenge.
Drag blocks onto an 8x8 grid. When a row or column is full, it clears. Blocks don't rotate unless you use the Turn tool, and nothing falls, so a block stays exactly where you drop it. The run ends when none of the three blocks in your tray fits anywhere.
Four ways to play
- Classic. No timer. The blocks get harder to fit the longer you last, and a level counter shows how far you've got.
- Daily Challenge. One board a day, the same for every player, so you can compare scores with anyone. Play each day to keep your streak going.
- Tide. Every few moves, a row of stone pushes up from the bottom. Clearing lines holds it back. If anything is in the top row when the tide rises, the run is over.
- Rush. You start with 90 seconds, and every line you clear adds time.
How scoring works
Placing a block scores 1 point for each square in it.
Clearing lines scores 10 × (the number of lines cleared at once)², so clearing several together is worth far more than clearing them one at a time:
- 1 line: 10 points
- 2 lines at once: 40 points
- 3 lines at once: 90 points
- 4 lines at once: 160 points
Chains multiply your line points. If your next block clears a line too, the chain goes up: 1.5×, then 2×, 2.5× and at most 3×. You can miss once and keep the chain; a second miss ends it.
Perfect clear: empty the whole board with one clear and you get a 200-point bonus.
For example, say you're on a 2× chain and a 4-square block completes two lines. You get 4 points for the block and 10 × 2² × 2 = 80 for the lines, so 84 in total.
In Tide, every rise you survive is worth 5 points. If the rising row completes a line, it clears and scores at your current multiplier, but it doesn't add to the chain. A bomb scores 2 points for each square it destroys.
Three tools, one of each per run
Smash removes a single block. Swap gives you a new set of blocks. Turn lets you rotate one block as many times as you like, and it's the only way to rotate anything.
